Cabbage soup diet
     The cabbage soup can be eaten at any time you feel hungry during the day, and you can eat as much as you wish as often as you like.

 
What is the Cabbage Soup Diet?

     In fact, there is not person who would be responsible for inventing the cabbage soup diet!
      The main idea of the cabbage soup diet is to eat in large quantities cabbage soup and something else.
      You can lose 10 lbs in a week.
      Advise: follow through this diet only for a week.

  
Ingredients:
  • 6 large green onions
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced orwhole)
  • 3 Carrots
  • 1 Container (10 oz. or so) Mushrooms
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 1/2 head cabbage
  • 1 package Lipton soup mix
  • 1 or 2 cubes bouillon(optional)
  • Season to taste with salt,pepper,parsley, garlic powder, etc
  
Directions:
  1. Slice green onions, put in pot and start to sauņe with cooking spray.
  2. Cut green pepper stem end off and cut in half, take seeds and membrane out. Cut the green-pepper into bite size pieces and put in pot.
  3. Take the outer leafs layers off the cabbage, cut into bite size pieces, put in pot.
  4. Clean carrots cut into bite size pieces put in pot.
  5. Slice Mushrooms into thick slices (otherwise they will disappear in the soup, put in pot.
  6. If you would like a spicy soup, add a small amount of cayenne pepper (red pepper) now (1/3 teaspoon is quite a bit as the soup will get spicier as it cooks further).
  7. You can use beef or chicken bouillon cubes for seasoning's they have all the salt and flavors you will need.
  8. Use about 12 cups of water, cover and put heat on low. Let soup cook for a long time (two hours works well). Taste and then season to taste with salt and pepper.
  
Diet

   The Cabbage Soup Diet plan is very strict. The idea is to eat as much cabbage soup as you like every day - enough to keep you full up, so you don't cheat! Plus specific additional foods on each day of the seven day diet. No alcohol is allowed and other drinks are limited to water, and unsweetened fruit juice on days when fruit is allowed.


Day 1 - Cabbage soup plus as much fruit as you like, excluding bananas Day 2 - Cabbage soup plus as much vegetables as you like, excluding potatoes Day 3 - Cabbage soup plus fruit and vegetables excluding potatoes and bananas Day 4 - Cabbage soup plus up to eight bananas and as much skimmed milk as you like Day 5 - Cabbage soup plus up to 20 ounces of beef and up to six tomatoes Day 6 - Cabbage soup plus as much beef and vegetables (excluding potatoes) as you like Day 7 - Cabbage soup plus brown rice, vegetables (excluding potatoes) and unsweetened fruit juice
     Recipes for the cabbage soup vary, but all are based on cabbage, onions, tinned tomatoes, green peppers, celery, carrots, mushrooms and onion soup mix.

  
Does the Cabbage Soup Diet Work?

     In the short term most people would lose weight very quickly. However, the loss of weight will come from loss of water and muscle tissue not from fat reserves. The combination of foods "allowed" would force most people to nearly starve each day. This could actually be counter-productive, forcing the body into starvation mode will slow metabolism and encourage the body to hang on to fat reserves!
   This diet regime requires a lot of planning and frequent shopping trips for the supply of vegetables and fruit. For many people it will involve cooking and eating separately from other family members not following this eating regime.

  
Is the Cabbage Soup Diet Healthy?

     Overall the cabbage diet is deficient in protein, carbohydrate and essential fats. Since the diet is only supposed to be followed for seven days, this shouldn't cause people in good health any long-term problems, but people who have special dietary needs, including diabetics, should definitely consult a doctor before starting the cabbage soup diet. No one should follow the diet for more than seven days.
   A balanced, healthy diet combined with exercise is still the most effective and safe long-term way to lose weight.
